There is something deeply sensual about this piece.
Something mysterious, smokey, darker... something that hints at the erotic... it's sultry and pulsing and taut with ardor.
Provocative. Feminine. Powerful. Voluptuous. Bold.
I had no idea my left hand was so passionate 😆
Or perhaps it's the other areas of my brain that are being activated by the challenge of painting lefthandedly.
A lot of people ask me why would I do that? Lol
And it's pretty simple really. I love the challenge. I love how painting lefthanded forces me to slow down and become even more intentional.
The way the direction of the knifes is different, how the brush strokes seem strangely foreign, how much it makes me think.
When I began this piece I really wanted a distraction and with no forethought or predetermination I committed to the work using only the left.
The entirety of this piece was all created with my left hand and I love it.
The palette colors are just so beautiful, and I love how the petals seem to be pushing against eachother, a salsa of saffron and salmon.
Reminds me of Van Gogh in some ways, perhaps a modern feminine version of his work. Or maybe its the tones, the sunflowers or brush strokes.
My very first left handed Papaya, and Polka-dots and it's finished with my signature left handed on the left side.
While working on this piece I thought about how when we are young we are kind of pushed to choose a dominant hand.
We use both eyes
Both feet
Both ears
Nostrils
Our unique symmetry created for balance, strength, agility, ability and so much more.
I bet the world is full of far more both-handed people than we realize❤️
