Meet the Artist

Hi Everybody!

I'm Olivia Gonzalez. And I'm a lifetime, self-taught, full-time artist and Jacksonville, Florida native.

I LOVE sculpting and I love to paint, and have created a way to combine those two passions into beautiful, colorful, textured and three dimensional works of art — art that you can look at AND want to touch.

I'm also a big fan of impasto style painting and when I'm not sculpting with palette knives, I love using my brushes to create layer after layer of depth, and intricate texture.

Salvaged and found items often make an appearance in my work — adding intriguing elements and interest — and often sparking nostalgia. These curious, sometimes ordinary, bits and baubles are so much fun to reshape, reimagine and explore.

Much of my work is a love letter to the women in my life. Hidden in my heart, some moments that I'd thought were forgotten, and memories that dance like the Flamenco and demand to be seen.... magnolia's and citrus, hydrangeas, sweet tea, azaleas, spiky birds of paradise, old clocks and cactus, sometimes a song, or a brick red lipstick, shade of pantyhose or polish… vinyl records, books, poetry and old telephones... and please stop me....!

Someone once stood in front of my gallery wall and said "this has such happy retro color and energy" and I immediately recognized it was so true. ♡

A few other things about me...

I absolutely love painting wedding bouquets and pet portraits and creating custom gifts, favors and keepsakes.

I enjoy LIVE painting twice a month at Art Collective, a fine art gallery in Saint Augustine where my work is represented.

I teach a monthly paint and sip class at The Art Room in Green Cove Springs, and I also offer private paint parties for groups of 4 to 10 adults.

I show my work around town at different events and shows, such as the Jacksonville Zoo's Art in the Gardens and the Cummer Museum's Women Maker’s Market annual events.

Finally, in case this wasn't enough about me..

I'm unapologetically feminist and a big supporter of elevating and uplifting other women and small businesses. I’m all about self love, health, healing, compassion and kindness.

And yes.
My studio IS filled with crystals, books, white sage and plants.
